Capoeira is a diverse Afro-Brazilian cultural art form that combines traditions including music, dance, acrobatics, martial arts, and more. This all inclusive body movement practice brings all these elements together allowing practitioners to gain skills and understanding at every step that lead to more advanced movements deepening their ability, practice, and opening cultural understanding and empathy rooted in ancestral traditions. This series will cover basics in movement, music, interchange with others, and build off of communal growth. At the end of the series you will have the ability to perform basic patterns, understanding of the music, and ability to play capoeira with others. From here we will continue to deepen those abilities and grow your repertoire of movements and musical ability.
What to wear? Athletic clothing, anything that allows freedom of movement.
